Fusion music. Well, we always look forward to a change and we expect something different when it comes to music as well. There are a different categories of people, each restricting themselves to a certain genre be it, rock, classical or western. Fusion music is becoming popular these days with a blend of everything you want.
To say, I have recently become a very big fan of fusion music where musicians come up with their own compositions. Definitely a treat for the ears:) One of my recent favourites is Taaye Yashoda from Morning Raga sung by Sudha Ragunathan.
Why do people worry over matters that don’t matter? Why do gals whine about a guy dumping her? What does it take to live a happy life no matter how hard life seems to be? How easy would it be to just have one solution for all such questions.
I personally feel, the answer to handle such situations is within oneself. ATTITUDE! Confidence and having a positive attitude towards things can help many times. I m not talking about over-confidence. Just the right mix of positive attitude and confidence with hard work is all what you need:)
I m sure the attitude of considering “All that has happened is for good”, will be of great help. If a person dumps you, just think that the person doesn’t deserve someone like you. You are worth someone much more than the one who doesn’t consider you as important as you do.
So yeah, stop worrying over things. You could save up the time for something else. Maybe shopping;), learning something you really want to do- dance, swim, playing an instrument, cooking or eating:P or whatever! Just don’t waste your time. Just have the right attitude and positive approach. Just keep moving on. This is all you need, to rock on:)
This song by Glenn Medeiros is one of my all time favs:)
Sing along..
If I had to live my life without you near me The days would all be empty The nights would seem so long With you I see forever oh so clearly I might have been in love before But it never felt this strong
Our dreams are young And we both know they'll take us Where we want to go
(Chorus 1) Hold me now Touch me now I don't want to live without you
(Chorus 2) Nothing's gonna change my love for you You ought know by now how much I love you One thing you can be sure of I'll never ask for more than your love
(Chorus 3) Nothing's gonna change my love for you You ought know by now how much I love you The world may change my whole life through But nothing's gonna change my love for you
If the road ahead is not so easy, Our love will lead the way for us Like a guiding star I'll be there for you if you should need me You don't have to change a thing I love you just the way you are So come with me and share the view I'll help you see forever too
Treated like the GOD of music industry, he is definitely my most favourite too :) Of course I do like so many compostions by Ilairaja. He is just unbeatable. There is no way the two of them can be compared. They are the best in their own ways:)
It was Arr’s period when I grew up. Think kids of my age grew up listening to his hits the most. It was like a dream to meet him or rather see one of his performances in live. Me n my sister usually try to irritate each other by telling some of the coolest things we did and try making the other person jealous:P About a year back or something, she went for an ARR concert at St Louis or I’m not sure if it was Chicago. The next time she called me up, she tried to show off that she got to see Arr live in concert. Though I acted as if I didn’t care, deep inside I was jealous obviously:)
This was history. Comes April 2008, Times of India came to Chennai, as a part of their promos they got Arr to perform live in Chennai, and gave away complimentary tickets with the newspaper. Like expected, the tickets got over in no time. I heard this from my friend and asked if he could help me out with a ticket. It was during my semester study holidays, but I didn’t care much:P This was once in a lifetime opportunity and I sure didn’t want to miss it:)Thanks to my friend and his friend who got me a ticket for the show and yayyy I was going to see A R Rahman- LIVE ..
THE DAY- Thankfully, it wasn’t as crowded as I imagined, so we did get to breathe:) Concert was great. ARR, so you can imagine:) It was like a dream come true seeing him perform live. Definitely one of the best moments in my life:)
And now this is for my sis-> I didn’t have to travel to the other side of the globe and didn’t have to spend a penny to watch the concert. So yay..:D
And here, some of the live moments i captured with great difficulty:)
Wondering what it is.. It is the latest production By EVAM, the theatre group that has grown up to be so popular now:) My first ever play i watched was Chapter two, a couple of years back with my sister. I owe it all to her, if not for my sister I wouldn’t have got interested in watching plays. And of course, the credit goes to Evam as well, for their fun filled plays. After my first play, I always looked forward to their visit to Chennai. I got to watch the following plays by them, Love letter, Art, Python hyssssteria. I enjoyed Python hyssssteria the best of all their plays.
And now they are back after one and half years with D T & Q. Doubles, triples and Quadruples- Nobody stays single.
I was all excited when I received their mail about the play. I thought to myself that the title sounds just too interesting to be missed. I assumed it must be something about relationships:P. But there Karthik, one of the founders of the theatre group, had a totally different and a cool explanation about the title.:) I don’t want to mention it here, cos those of you who might want to watch the play shouldn’t get disappointed (Anyway, you could ask me in person, if you can’t stand the suspense :))
Of all the plays that I watched, the experience with DT&Q was something different. I went for this play with a huge set of friends and friends of friends, got to meet some of my school friends by chance and many others I knew. This was the first ever time, we couldn’t get tickets in spite of blocking them. This just shows Evam has definitely become so popular and finally has got the recognition and outcome they deserved:)Am sure, they are going to go places:)
You could visit www.evam.in, their official website to know more about their productions. I would really suggest you watch their plays sometime, you are in for a great evening, laughter and a whole lot of entertainment:)
I’m a total music freak and I use my computer system more as a juke box:P
At regular intervals, i have this most favourite song that i keep listening to again and again. The song that tops my playlist at present is Kangal Irandal from the movie Subramaniyapuram. Liked this song the very first time I heard it. The movie that depicts life of youth in 80’s is definitely worth watching once. Picturisation of the song is cute too:)
Would Elvis Presley have created a sensation gyrating his hips behind a Steinway grand piano? Would Keith Richards have been viewed as an icon of rebellion blowing a clarinet? And how many kids have you seen playing “air violin” in front of their bedroom mirrors? There is no question that the guitar is the most coolest musical instrument of them all, goes the introduction in my guitar guide and i think IT IS THE COOLEST INSTRUMENT too:)..
Yeah yeah yeah.. So like I mentioned in one of my previous posts about my varied interests, Playing the guitar has always been one my of childhood dreams:) I was one of those kids trying the air guitar in front of my mirror as well. But guitar was something that I took up very late in my life. But again, I didn’t get to practice that well after a few months of learning sessions. Playing the instrument you love definitely gives you a peace of mind and satisfaction. The best thing you can look forward to when you are really bored:) I love playing the guitar and I’m hoping to get my hands on it very soon and get to play it everyday:)
This is a video of the song Glasgow Kiss by John Petrucci.. He is supposed to be one of the fastest players and is known for his high speed alternate picking. I think you should watch the video to get an idea of it.
I hope someday, in future, I’ll play the guitar this way too ;) ( Is it too much to ask for?:))
So here's the deal: I guess I gotta write 10 random facts about myself that you guys don't know.
So yeah..
1)I can also cook, not just eat;)
2)I m talkative and love to stay with lots of people around. Everyone knows this. But, I do love to be lonely at times and think of my past and future:)
3)I don't like pets and scared of dogs.
4)At present, I have this secret desire to play video games, stuff we used to play when we were kids.
5)I want my hair all set whenever I’m out, so I keep combing so often, especially when i was in coll:)
6)I always use a maroon hero pen for my exams. My mom has to fill the ink in my pens, no matter what:)
7)I can get to sleep in just few seconds, no matter where i am.
8)My pet name is Pintu.
9)My childhood ambition was to become a pilot.
10)I have a favourite chair and a writing pad. I sit on the chair and use the writing pad whenever I study for exams. Have been doing this for like ages now:) ( when that chair is inside the room and when i take out the writing pad and dust it, everyone around knows its time for my exams ;))
This is one place i would never forget in my life:) If you think its just another wallpaper, think again:) Third year college tour to Munnar n Kodai was just awesomee:):) I was definitely looking forward to the Trekking on the last day at Kodai. It was definitely an experience that i would never forget in my life for more than a reason. This was my first trekking ever. We had to climb and get down huge rocks en route to this place which was super fun. And then we discover this place, which is definitely a treat to watch.. You could find Waterfalls as you walk by.. Slipping down, posing for some crazy pics, trying to cross the river, fresh carrots and corn on the way- It was all just AWESOME!! :):) Don't miss out on this place if you get a chance to go to Kodaikanal.
Whenever there is a power cut, most of just end up complaining about the silly EB and the workers and how they don't let us sleep peacefully in the night, blah blah.
A couple of days back there was a power cut in our area around 10 in the night. We went out and tried playing shuttle under the street lights! Trust me it was awesommee fun!:):):) Something different from the usual. You have to make a wild guess as to where the cock is gonna land and most of the times you ll end up being wrong:) It is really worth a try, but only when your road is free of traffic:)
One more good thing that it does is, you become so tired after the play that you want to just lie down and sleep and don't really bother about the power. So here you go- A tip to get rid of boredom and get sleep when there is a power cut;)- PLAY:D
18 years and still on.. I still remember the very first day we moved into this house after a long train journey from Hyderabad. Loads and loads of memories attached to this place. When I sit down to write about this place I love the most, my mind is just filled with soooooo many memories. I can never really do justice in expressing how special this place is to me :)
15 years back.. A gang of kids( we were 18 of us) always upto some mischief or the other.. Games that included catching game, lock and key, 4 corners to Shuttle, Cricket to The Prince of Persia in the PC to Video games( Contra, Circus troupe, Mario) to Chopu Saaman to Cards, Carrom, Ludo,Monopoly, Scotland yard, Palankuzhi and what not!.. Going for dance classes as a gang, bunking school for shows, Watching movies in the VCR, Gang split ups and fights with the Kaa’s and Pazhams, Kiddy birthday parties and games, Johnson Rickshaw, Arguments that included who studied in the best school :), Quartely- Half yearly- Annual exams, Summer hols, Building sand castles… Unforgettable Childhood :)
7 years back.. Cycle to school, Board exams, study all the time, tuitions, Spl classes, revision exams and exams and exams, Super seniors.. We were growing up. Many shifted homes. Few moved in. We always managed to meet up and have fun whenever possible. There was no time to play like before though. Our kind of fun moved on from playing to other things like shopping, celebrating festivals together( Diwali, Ramzan biriyani;)) cooking, treats, trips to Mahabs, Beach visits:)
4 years back.. College students, no time for anything except college and sleep.. We just met up during weekends, chat, go for movies, eat-out.. All of us were busy with our own lives. Didn’t really have time for each other like before, but the strong bonding remained and will, forever:) Of course, the Diwali celebs and sweets, Ramzan Biriyani still remained a custom;)
And now.. College is over.. Vacation.. I should say, I m re-living my childhood:) With the early morning and evening shuttle with neighbours to cards, carrom. I m so happy that I m back to spending time with them like before. I m so blessed to have such neighbours. We cook, chat, eat, play, hang out together. Movies and treat almost every weekend:):) soo much fun when such people are around and you always feel 24 hrs a day, ll not be enough when you are home.
I really don’t know how life will take turns from now. But wherever I go, whatever I do, this place, Sixth Street, Secretariat colony, that saw me grow up as a crying kid to a matured grown up;), that has seen the most happy and sad times of mine, that shares the bessstttt part of my life, will always be my MOST favourite place on Earth :)
This is a cool song by Baz Luhrmann.. It has got funny lyrics and real cool practical advices.. Sure you’ll love it too.. :)
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99 If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
This was a scrap from my sister a few days back when I told her that I got to watch the much awaited Dasavatharam movie( Am a MAJOR fan of Dr Kamalhassan, the only actor I claim to be a fan of) in an unexpected way n that I managed to get free tickets..
“Jus lucky to get the tickets - you didn't mention it was FREE and they were luxury couch seats... damn.. am so jealous of you.. you get to dine with Ganguly when you are not even a cricket fan and you dine in the same Lounge as Nadal when you don't follow Tennis..”
Now I sit back to wonder if I’ve been really lucky:) Or maybe not!
# Oh yeah! I got to watch the movie for free n got the chance when I least expected I was gonna watch the movie. Yes, I was lucky to get the tickets but unfortunately I missed the very beginning of the movie:( ( I didn’t want to miss even a second in the movie, Am sure gonna watch it again!:):):) )
# And yes! That is Saurav Ganguly, our former Indian Cricket team captain.. It was during my twelfth standard holidays.. Yet again! It was totally unexpected.. My friend calls me up at 6.45 in the evening and asks me to rush to her place in another 15 mins max and that we were going to dine with Ganguly (I was like, wow!) cos her dad was hosting a party to him at THE PARK. It was that time when some tournament was on ( I don’t remember though, Oh yes, I never used to follow Cricket that much) and the players were staying at the Taj, Chennai. I rushed to my friend’s place, it was all like a dream! We met him. I got to sit right next to him when were having dinner. It was at the Aqua in Park. We spoke lots n it was like a casual meeting with just another person. Hmmm yes, I was lucky to meet him. But, But, But just when we were about to click a pic, he had to leave cos of a phone call that he received.. No pics, no autographs:( Only good old memories of the meet-up:)
#College.. I was fortunate enough to get into a good coll, get an awesome group of friends from my batch, seniors and juniors, it was just FUN all the time with symposiums during the odd semester, tours, Culturals in the even semester and jus EVERYTHING! Just when I was about to sit back and enjoy after my results were out that my 4 years in college were just great and think I have been really lucky, strikes the total shock! ( I don’t want to mention it here though, friends who are really keen can message me, rest of them know what it is!)
This was just more like a lesson! Never get too happy about things working out your way nor get worried when they don’t.. Take life as it comes. Face it!:) This is what I have learnt and probably the reason why I can still stay cool at the worst of situations:)
