Don’t remember. Sure, must have been my mom:)

First relationship was with my parents, as a daughter to them:) It still lasts and will, forever.

Its not legal yet to go on a date in India:P Anyway never been on a date. So yeah…

I ve done many things for my love towards parents and friends, love for shopping, love for eating and many more:D which one should I mention here;)

Apart from being a daughter to my parents and sister to my sister, my longest relationship has been Friendship with my neighbour miss N for 17 years and its still on. :)

I still haven’t met my “the ONE” and I don’t know how long I ll have to wait:)

Hmmm, I wouldn’t mind my kid seeing a guy, as long as she is matured enough to decide on the right guy. Maybe 21 or 22 :)

Strict if my kid thinks its fun. Cool if my kid knows what he/she is doing.

07/07/07.. The day...

This is more than just a date for me.. Read on:)

All of us have different dreams and ambitions when we are small. Mine ranged from pilot to s/w professional to doctor. But anyway at the right time, during my 12^th std I set my goal and realised I wanted to be a software professional.

When I was small, as I have seen in the movies, getting a job was to follow the usual procedure of applying, getting dressed formally, appearing for an interview in person and getting a job was a big deal. I always used to imagine myself doing something like that later in my life.

But then, when I got into college, companies started coming to college campuses to recruit students as their employees. There was the I T boom and companies were just taking away students in large numbers, so I had my mind set that getting a job in this situation shouldn’t be tough.

Time to enter my final year, my college management comes up with a new decision, of letting only 60 students to be recruited by a company and not more than that. It was a little difficult for all of us who were considering it easy to get placed in the very first company when they take large numbers, to accept that fact it was going to be different for our batch, but then we had to, we didn’t have a choice anyway.

We knew it was not going to be as easy as it used to be when there were bulk recruitments. We had to fight out way through. Placements were starting off from july 1^st week and me, no preparation absolutely. I enjoyed every bit of the semester break. I went off to attend the first company with no hopes, that was on july 2^nd 07. I was like first 60, no chance anyway. Was pretty cool about it, got through aptitude and goofed up in my interview cos I wasn’t prepared for the technical at all. Anyway end of the day, results announced and I didn’t get through. Wasn’t much disappointed cos this was something I expected anyway.

The next company was going to come in another five days. This time I wasn’t as careless as before. I wanted to get into this company for one to many reasons. I should say this company was my dream cos I changed my whole idea of becoming a software engineer only after my sister joined this company. Anyway three days of preparation, I didn’t want to miss out on the chance.

The day: I wore my lucky salwar:)( My friends still tease me about it) Attended the whole pre placement talk with no mood. The aptitude test was going to be right after that. So yeah, you can imagine. The test started and got over in no time. Results were to be announced after a couple of hours. We were happily chatting as usual, not worried about whats going to happen next. Anyway time passes by, and we hear the news that the names of students who got through will be read outside the library.

With a little bit of tension and anxiety we all gathered at the lawn outside the library block in my college. The placement officer had just 5 or 6 sheets. So we knew they hadn’t short listed many. I was standing right at the back of the entire crowd. Me and 2 of my friends there. The officer starts reading out the names. Reads through the 1^st list. None of our names were called out. Goes 2^nd and the 3^rd. One friend of mine was called. Was happy for her and was hoping my name would be called out soon. Then goes the 4^th and the 5^th. No names called yet. He comes to the last sheet on his hand, and I lost hope. I was just telling my friend, oh maybe we aren’t selected. He calls another friend of mine. Got excited for her, and but was still tensed. Three names down the list, the officer calls Soumya Meganathan. Whoa! What a feeling of relief it was. After the allotment of panel numbers We were waiting in a room close to the library waiting for our names to be called out.

The wait was a little long. But we weren’t tensed. Friends stayed back to support us. We were chatting and laughing. I was called a little later compared to my other friends who got short listed. Waiting inside the lib without having to speak a word was a lil tough :D

I was called. Interview was fun. It was a HR interview. No technical so I thoroughly enjoyed talking to the lady who interviewed me:) It was over and I felt I did well. Again the announcement of results takes a long time. We had to stay in college. My college looks so cool in the dark. One of the first few times we got to see college that late. We ate, listened to music, cracked jokes and we were passing time. And then comes the result time.

Again, we had to gather outside the library. The same scenario like before. But this time it was a different feeling. Feeling of whether I had made it or not. This time I should say, I was a lil tensed. The same place, same officer and the same list. But only difference the list had only sixty names. Will i be one among them?? With that question on mind, I was standing there with the rest of the crowd.

The officer started calling out the names. After a few names, he calls Soumya M, for one second I was like whoa! I made it!.. Next second he calls out the register number of a girl who belongs to the IT department. Disappointed again, I was waiting there for him to call out my name. Calls a few more names and I was still hoping I would be called. And after a few more names, there he calls out SOUMYA MEGANATHAN and my register number. Seriously, that moment was just priceless. Was soo happy:) I have no words to explain. This whole policy that my college came up with, definitely made all of us realize the worth of the job and how difficult it is compared to how easy it is when you are one among the bulk. Anyway I’ll never forget that day and never will I get that moment again. It ll always be cherished by me. That awesome day was the 7^th july of 2007, that is 07/07/07. And here I m posting this on 08/08/08. Aint it cool?:P

Guess this is my longest post for now:) Don't know how many of you succeeded in coming to this point:):)

Yoga..

Lately after trying out different stuff like walking, cycling, playing shuttle in the Mornings, Yoga is something me and my neighbours have discovered. Two of my neighbours being therapists taught the rest of us a few Asanas, something that can be done at home every morning. Trust me, it really makes a difference:) But please do learn it up from a trained professional and continue with it at home. It definitely helps you look forward to the day with more energy and enthusiasm.

Asanas in Sanskrit means posture. There are around 84 asanas - each one has a special name, special form and a distinct way of performing. Asanas are designed to promote, a state of mental and physical well-being or good health. This may be defined as the condition that is experienced when all the organs function effectively under the intelligent control of the mind. Asanas have an extraordinary capacity to overhaul, rejuvenate and bring the entire system into a state of balance.

Surya Namaskar

Surya Namaskar means greeting or bowing the sun. Usually all sessions of Yoga asanas begin with the 'Surya Namaskar' or sun salutation. It nourishes and energizes the upper part of the body.

Utthan Pada Asana( Leg lifting posture)

'Utthan' means to raise up and 'Pada' means legs. In this posture the legs are lifted upwards. It strengthens the spinal code and removes disorders of the back.

Paschimothan Asana( The forward bend)

Paschimothan Asana also known as touching toes posture, means stretching the back. It brings flexibility and corrects disorders of the

Bhujana Asana (The Cobra)

'Bhujanga' means serpent or snake. This asana is named after the king of the snakes, Cobra. It provides a youthful appearance and for women, makes child birth easy.

Salabha Asana (The Locust)

	'Salabha' or locust is a type of grass hopper. It is a reverse of cobra posture. It is strenuous and can be practiced in parts at the initial stage. It favourably activates all the organs of the lower part of the body.

Sarvanga Asana (The shoulder stand)

'Sarva' means all and 'Anga' means body, so Sarvanga is the posture of the whole body. As the whole body weight in this posture rests on the shoulders, it is also called 'Shoulder Stand Posture'. It is a purifying, nourishing and energizing asana beneficial to the whole body.

Matsya Asana (The fish posture)

Matsya Asana is so called because in its perfect posture, one is supposed to float like a fish in water. It is beneficial to perform this asana after Sarvanga Asana. It has corrective effects for the neck and shoulder troubles.

Shava Asana( Relaxation procedure)

Shava Asana' means posture of a dead body. Also known as 'Yoga Nidra' which means yogic method of sleep. It is an asana which claims to provide a satisfactory relaxation of both the body and the mind.

Ok. This post is going to be about my first and only experience on doing a modern art-Or rather that is what I claimed it to be:):)

Scenario- Culturals room, everyone is busy doing some decoration stuff, me and a couple of juniors play the fool with a chart n lots of colours. Decoration incharge Miss V doesn’t bother, and knows its better off not telling us anything. Anyway right in the middle of all this, I get teased by a couple of my friends. So there, the artist inside me awakens and challenges them that I can do a painting exactly the way it looks on the cover of my 5 subject note book. And guess what the deal was- BIRIYANI;);)

Among all the laughter and mocking, I sit down to draw and paint. I wasn’t sure of the outcome but it was just great fun doing it:):) Anyway I came up with something, I m not even sure if I can say it was close to that original modern art. And this was it

But hey Guess what? I won the bet and hogged biriyani for lunch that day:)

Santoor...

Instrumental music is again something that has always impressed me. I don’t think the divine and peace we get listening to instrumental comes with any other kind of music. Me and my sister once had this discussion about different instruments and then she made me listen to this one song. That’s the first time I ever heard of something like that. Since then, i have become a great fan and just love the sound from the instrument. And this is the song and the instrument being played is the santoor.

The santoor is an Indian stringed musical instrument which is trapezoid-shaped hammered dulcimer often made of walnut, with seventy strings. The special-shaped mallets (mezrab) are of light weight and are held between the index and middle fingers. A typical santoor has two sets of bridges, providing a range of three octaves.

Biriyani.. My elixir of life:)

I m still surprised how my blog is sans a post about FOOD! I m sure the ones who know me are still wondering as well:P. I claim to be a pure non-vegetarian, so am sure you get an idea about how I eat, and I eat lots, I mean LOTS! I was just wondering what my next post should be about. So, I decided it should be something about I really love. Something that I enjoy doing. Yes, eating:):) I dunno why, of all, Biriyani has got its own primary importance and tops the list of my favourite food.

I think the craze for biriyani started off after joining coll. I considered treating myself to biriyani whenever I felt I did something worth. At most cases, I assumed I did something. So you know, atleast once a week I made sure I found a reason;). Right from doing an exam well to even the reason of attending one whole week of coll was enough for me to consider hogging on the biriyani that weekend:P. So now I realize the reason behind me putting on weight :D

Thalapakatu-Virudunagar-Hyderabad-Ambur-Karaikudi to the latest Tirumana Biriyani. Places that are known for their own original style of biriyani. I have had it all, and trust me each one in special in its own way;) Guess after reading this post, am sure one would get an idea as to why am so eager in attending Christian and Muslim weddings:) There were times I used to have biriyani twice for lunch during Ramzan, neighbour and best friend from school, the order I visited their homes changed every year though:P But as always, I used to do justice, even if it was my second lunch:P Good old times:)

Anyway, my first post about FOOD goes about my most favourite biriyani. Among my other favourites of Chinese, Tandoori, Italian, Mexican, Biriyani will always stand up to be the king ruling the list of my favourite stuff to hog on:)
